Conference announcement

The two previous Conferences (Montevideo in 2005, Melbourne in 2007) were highly successful, bringing together several hundred delegates from more then 20 countries, primarily focused on plantation resource development and the international trade in woodchips and woody biofuels (Chips and pellets). With so many major changes in both the fibre supply and to global markets occurring in 2007-2009 we are pleased to announce the dates and location for the 3rd International Pulpwood Resources & Trade Conferences: Changes in Global Markets for Woodchips & Woody Biofuels.

Dates & Venue Confirmed

Dates: October 2008: Sunday 19 – Tuesday 21

Venue: Waterfront Conference Centre, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore

The Conference will focus on:

• Developments in markets for woodchips in Asia; and the rapidly expanding European market
• Outlook for woodchip supply and potential new resources
• Trends and opportunities in global plantation forestry investment
• Impact of record high ocean freight costs on fibre trade logistics
• Growth of regional and global markets for biomass chips and pellets
• Potential benefits of post-Kyoto carbon market developments for investors in native forests and plantations

Field Trip

Following the Singapore Conference, an optional 3-day (Singapore to Singapore) field trip is available for a limited number of delegates to visit plantations, and woodchip production and export facilities in the Cai Lan area of Northern Vietnam. Delegates will also enjoy a boat cruise on the world famous World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay.
Places will be strictly limited on a “first come first served” basis, so please register your interest as soon as possible (see below).
